View into the ZKM_Laboratory for Antique Video Systems, Photo: Andreas Friedrich The exhibition at ZKM presents the entire edition, supplemented by the focus on restoration and conservation as well as by technical background information on protecting early Video Art. The emphasis here lies on the 1960s and 1970s, since videotapes from this period are especially endangered. Authentic devices from the early 1970s are displayed. Likewise on display are examples of restorative practices, by way of works shown in their original and restored digital formats. In addition, the exhibition presents works not seen in this form since the 1970s, and these enjoy a restaging for the first time at ZKM.
